Are Killer Robots A Thing?

Terminator may not be what we’re talking here, but if you ask these activists, they’ll tell you they’re very worried about a future where autonomous killing machine run the world. After the United Nations reignited sparks in their debate on robots as weapons, protestors rallied against the prospect. Their main fear is that, by developing autonomous weapons, humans would sound lose their will for decision making. If we think back to crucial moments in history, can you imagine a robot making a decision that would affect the course of mankind rather than a human being?

The main group protesting is known as “AI,” a human rights organization that is criticizing government experts for not only the creation of these machines, but the fact that lawmakers are not standing up and regulating this matter fast enough. Rest assured, scientists across the globe have pledged to not design any autonomous killer robots under the Lethal Autonomous Weapons Pledge. Some people claim that these robots, if they were to be created, should be treated as bioweapons. Extreme caution needs to be taken care, according to AI, because this is no longer a case of science fiction.

While AI in the military could save countless lives, it could destroy just as many, if not more. Rest assured, this will be a hot debate in the next few years.
