Amazon Opens Third “Grab-and-Go” Store

Amazon continues to encroach upon the real world with cheap, bottomless shopping. Amazon has opened their third “grab-and-go” store in Seattle. This makes the third Amazon Go store to open in the city, and with this opening, Amazon has announced that they currently have plans to open stores (likely leading to chains) in San Francisco and Chicago.

If you haven’t kept abreast of this, Amazon has been running what has become a chain of convenience stores equipped with the latest proprietary shopping technology. When a customer enters the store, their mobile device is scanned for a linked Amazon account and wallet. Customers can then grab as many items as they like off the shelves, and through a combination of sensors and a second scan at the entrance, the cost of any taken items are automatically deducted from the customer’s Amazon wallet.

There is minimal, if any, interaction with store employees (of whom there are notably few to begin with), leading customers to praise the expedience of the service.
