Allergies Hit Hard, Even When You’re Sleeping

There’s nothing more miserable than being kept awake by your running nose.

It doesn’t take long to notice that large amounts of pollen is swirling in the air. Your eyes begin to water, you sneeze constantly, and your nose becomes a faucet. Allergy season has hit, and it has hit hard. But, have you noticed that you are also becoming tired much more easily during these allergy infested days? These seasonal allergies are making people’s energy levels drop drastically.

Allergies force our bodies to fight off the substances that are causing us to have the reaction that we have. When our body has to fight off invasive elements, it utilizes a lot of energy to make up more cells and proteins to fight back. You will begin to feel fatigue set in as your body is working overtime to help you fight off the allergies.

Think about how difficult it is to sleep at night with a stuffed-up nose. Your body needs to get that sleep to help in the recovery process so you have the strength to fight back. However, that fight is slowed down because of your nighttime struggles.

Having allergies affects your ability to concentrate during the day because of your lack of sleep. It is even reported that kids who are diagnosed with ADHD could actually have allergies as the main culprit in their inability to focus. Before settling on that diagnosis, it is imperative that you check for allergies as the possible cause of concentration struggles.

Another symptom of the drowsiness can come from the products that we use to try to fight off the allergies. Antihistamines, in particular, cause people to become very drowsy. Think of how tired you feel whenever you take Benadryl. It is helping to aid in the fight going on inside of your body to ward off the allergy intruders.

Be wary during allergy season of your energy level and understand that your body is working overtime to win your battle. Don’t overload yourself on energy drinks; just know your body is fighting for you!
