Alan Wake Television Show Announced

The cult-classic horror game Alan Wake is getting its own television show, and gamers are cautiously excited. For those who don’t remember, the original Alan Wake game had players exploring the world and using their flashlight to devour enemies that appear from the shadows.

A new report that comes from Remedy Entertainment, the original developers of the game, shows that that series creator Sam Lake will be executive producer on the show, while Peter Calloway will be the show runner. Remedy will also be teaming up with Contradiction Films to create the show.

The original game, which was released in 2010, was a Microsoft exclusive that never garnered enough hype to get a proper sequel, yet captured the hearts and minds of a select audience that have been invested in the storyline ever since. For those who have never played, the third person perspective that traverses dream-like sequences and real time events creates a game that is eerily enjoyable. Your flashlight acts very similar to a weapon and, while guns are wieldable, a lot of times the light is your best friend.

The original game in the series will be a “jumping off” point for the television series; however, it has neither been confirmed nor denied if the show will be canon to the game’s storyline.
